My guess is that the translated versions of Ulysses would indeed contain neologisms. Modern Chinese uses neologisms all the time. I'll try to get a copy, but it's hard to know without knowing which 'edition' they had. Of course, Chinese book publishing is not always a straightforward area to conduct research.
